About McCauley Street
Rushton McGarr is a C-level executive and board member who has spent two decades scaling private equity and venture-backed businesses. He translates a strategic objective into the operating roadmap required to reach it, and builds the team accountable for getting there, drawing on experience as an operational CFO, President, and COO across quantum technology, enterprise SaaS, and energy.
He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Ascend Analytics, backed by Rubicon Technology Partners, and previously led finance at Vitruvi Software (Bow River Capital), Infleqtion (NYSE: INFQ), and FullContact, both of which are Foundry Group portfolio companies. Across those roles he has closed equity and debt financings, built G&A teams and installed governance, closed and integrated acquisitions, implemented EOS, and rebuilt management-to-board reporting and credibility.
Investors engage him when a portfolio company needs senior judgment quickly. He now offers that experience on a fractional basis: embedded operating and financial leadership for portfolio companies and their boards, scaled to what the business requires. He runs a modern practice leveraging secure, enterprise-grade AI tools that automate the repetitive work of finance, giving one experienced operator the reach of a much larger team.
Focus Areas
Engagements are shaped around your stage and your investors, whether that means owning the finance function outright, backstopping an existing team, or leading a specific event to close.
Embedded operating and financial leadership across accounting, FP&A, and HR, sized to your stage and budget, covering a gap or standing in through a transition.
Equity and debt raises, M&A, and recapitalizations, from modeling and diligence through negotiation and close to integration.
Assessing the finance and G&A team already in place, closing capability gaps, and recruiting and developing the leaders accountable for execution.
Management-to-board reporting packages, scorecards, budgets, delegation-of-authority matrices, and committee charters that hold up as you scale.
Post-close 100-day planning, cost restructuring, KPI and unit-economics discipline, and the operating rigor that turns a plan into realized value.
A trusted, on-call resource for funds and their portfolio company boards: diligence support, independent board and advisory seats, and senior operating judgment without adding headcount.
Approach
McCauley Street pairs two decades of CFO and operating judgment with AI built into the daily work of finance. Forecasting, variance analysis, pipeline reports, and board-package preparation are accelerated with secure, enterprise AI tools, so time goes to the decisions that move enterprise value. Portfolio companies get the output of a fully staffed finance function without carrying its full headcount.
AI-enabled workflows absorb the repetitive work of reporting and analysis, so a lean team can support a growing company and G&A grows slower than revenue.
Rushton reviews and stands behind every AI-assisted model, forecast, and board deliverable. The tools speed up the work; the judgment and accountability stay with an experienced CFO.
Company and investor data goes only into enterprise AI tools whose terms prohibit training on your data, never into consumer tools that fall short of that standard.
Automations, dashboards, and AI workflows are built and documented inside your systems, so your team keeps the leverage, and the scale, after the engagement ends.
